Dec 2019–present
Web Developer at Happening Interactive in New Orleans, Louisiana.
In this role I’m a freelance web developer and designer. Most of my recent work was shepherding database restructuring and PHP-based website improvements for the American Discography of American Historical Recordings (DAHR), a large collection of pre-war recordings and session information housed at The University of California, Santa Barbara.
As a contractor for AgenciesOnline, a South Carolina-based company, I maintain a few sites for small insurance companies that were built in Wordpress, Drupal, and Jekyll.
I have also designed and built full websites for New Orleans-based creators Happy Talk Band and Tempt Films, and New York based author Mike Edison.
I’m also an animator and have built dozens of animated banner advertisements in Adobe Animate and Google Web Designer. Most recently I produced over fifty banners for FEMA.
Oct 2018 – Dec 2019
Web Developer at Online Optimism in New Orleans, Louisiana.
I was the sole Wordpress PHP/CSS/Javascript developer for a digital marketing firm. I created an entire custom cataloging system in Wordpress for Moxie Media, a vendor of educational safety films for the shipping and oil industries.
I also created CSS and JS-based web animation, some involving user-created content, for Dixie Brewing.
I also created several custom Wordpress themes and templates, and ensured all our sites used mobile-first responsive development.
Sep 2016–Oct 2018
Web Developer and UI Designer in New Orleans.
I was a subcontractor for New Orleans web design agencies Solid Web Design, Line 58, and Lagniappe Media.
I designed, built, and maintained SEO-friendly, responsive PHP, Wordpress, and Drupal web sites for local businesses. During this period I also created animated banner ads asa a freelancer for creative agencies in San Francisco and Austin, Texas.
Sep 2014 – Sep 2016
Creative Technologist at Sanders/Wingo Advertising in Austin, Texas.
I made animated banner ads and campaign-based websites for Sanders/Wingo’s biggest client, AT&T.
I built proof-of-concept web sites, and illustrated presentations for Sanders/Wingo’s business development team. I also served as technical liaison to the Amsterdam, Netherlands-based web development team (Media Monks) for AT&T’s national ad campaign featuring Charlie Murphy, translating the client’s requirements and questions into technical goals and action items for the developers.
Oct 2012 – Sep 2014
Freelance Web Developer and UI Designer in New Orleans.
I did almost all of the front-end development on a New York startup called Eatucator that created custom coupons for small grocery stores and farmers’ markets.
I designed and built a music-oriented web-based dating app (from scratch) in Ruby On Rails. The app was called Rockcalling. It was a working proof-of-concept for a private investor.
I produced and maintained websites about pedicab services for New Orleans agency Alford Advertising.
Oct 2011 – Oct 2012
Developer II for iSeatz in New Orleans.
iSeatz creates travel booking sites and site sections that allow travel vendors to sell ancillary services, like hotel rooms and car rentals, directly from their websites. I worked with the representative of the outside design firm (Rokkan NYC) on the very large, heavily-used American Express Travel site to make sure our design requirements were understood.
Also on the American Express Travel project, I started and led an effort to standardize our front-end-facing code across back-end developer groups for consistency, thereby simplifying the front-end styling and saving days of developer time.
I used CSS to customize white-label Ruby on Rails mini-apps that were included on the KLM, Alaska Air, and Amtrak travel booking websites.
Jun 2010 – Oct 2011
Senior Web Developer for McCann/MRM Worldwide in New York.
I did web development, and had some design input, on websites for clients like Smirnoff, Crown Royal, Home Depot, and U.S. Army. I did a lot of Javascript based animation on these highly visible sites, and implemented complex visual designs. I also communicated our needs to overseas development agencies who handled back-end data for these sites.
I eliminated excess server costs for Home Depot Garden Club by rebuilding their home page image carousel.
Jan 2010 – May 2010
Front-End Developer at Huge Design in Brooklyn.
I developed modular page layout elements as part of a major redesign for NBC’s high-traffic website iVillage, along with interactive features like a Body Mass Index Calculator, in a strictly standardized HAML/Sass environment.
Jun 2009 – Dec 2009
Front-End Developer for Turner Broadcasting in New York.
I did daily development and styling tasks for Turner’s high-traffic (20 posts a day) women’s blogging site The Frisky. I also created special seasonal feature designs like advent calendars, and styled HTML e-mail.
Oct 2008 – May 2009
Senior Developer at BrandWizard in New York.
As the front-end lead, I worked with the designers and back-end developers to complete complete
re-skins of our company’s proprietary asset management software, for clients including Mercedes-Benz, Hilton Hotels, and HSBC. Each client used substantially similar web-based software, but each client required an entirely different visual package, and my role was key to keeping that process organized and transparent to the back-end developers.

Freelance web development in New York for Huffington Post, IAC (match.com, College Humor), GoMobo, Mirren Business Development, and Bajibot (digital animators).
